Tamil Nadu: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed her condolences and paid homage to the late Thiru Vijayakanth, the renowned Tamil actor and chief of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, who passed away in Chennai. Vijayakanth, aged 71, had been on ventilator support after testing positive for COVID-19, according to statements from his political party. However, the hospital’s official statement cited pneumonia as the cause of his demise.

His career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on Tamil cinema with his memorable performances. The demise of Thiru Vijayakanth marks the end of an era, and his legacy as an actor and political leader will be remembered by many. The Finance Minister’s tribute stands as a poignant acknowledgment of the void left by the passing of this influential figure in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
