As the curtains draw on the current year, the dawn of the new year brings a golden opportunity for the youth aspiring to serve in the UP Police. In a historic move, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, following the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has unveiled a colossal recruitment drive for 60,244 posts of Reserve Civil Police.

This recruitment initiative, touted as the largest constable recruitment in the history of UP Police, aims to provide a substantial opportunity for the youth to fulfill their dreams of a career in law enforcement. Notably, 20 percent of these posts are reserved for women, amounting to 12,049 positions specifically allocated for female constables.

“Candidates eager to apply for these coveted positions can submit their applications online starting from December 27, 2023. The deadline for submitting applications is January 16, 2024. Additionally, candidates have until January 18, 2024, to make fee adjustments and amendments to their applications. Detailed information about the recruitment process is available on the Recruitment Board’s official website: https://uppbpb.gov.in”.

According to Renuka Mishra, Chairperson/Director-General of the Recruitment Board, the breakdown of the 60,244 posts includes 24,102 for the general category, 6,024 for the EWS category, 16,264 for Other Backward Classes, 12,650 for Scheduled Castes, and 1,204 for Scheduled Tribes. The reservation for women in this recruitment drive is a commendable 20 percent.

To be eligible for the constable position, candidates must have completed their 10th and 12th classes from a recognized board in India or hold an equivalent qualification acknowledged by the government. The minimum age for candidates is fixed at 18 years.

“For male candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and Scheduled Caste categories, the minimum height requirement is 168 cm, while female candidates are required to have a minimum height of 152 cm. Male candidates from the Scheduled Tribe category must have a minimum height of 160 cm, and female candidates must have a minimum height of 147 cm”.

The recruitment process includes an offline written examination, scrutiny of records, and a physical standard test for candidates who pass the written examination. Successful candidates will undergo a physical efficiency test (race), where male candidates must complete a 4.8-kilometer race in 25 minutes, and female candidates must complete a 2.4-kilometer race in 14 minutes.

“Aspiring constables should take note of the education and age criteria, with the minimum age set at 18 years. Male candidates must not exceed 22 years of age, and female candidates must not exceed 25 years of age as of July 1, 2023”.

This massive recruitment drive not only opens up opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh but also aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement and ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents. As candidates gear up to apply for these coveted positions, the UP Police looks forward to welcoming a new cadre of dedicated individuals to serve and protect the community.
