In a swift and unequivocal response, Shashi Tharoor, a senior Congress leader and the Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, expressed his deep shock and dismay over the recent bombings that took place at a Christian group convention in Ernakulam, Kerala. The tragic incident claimed the life of a woman and left approximately 40 others injured. Tharoor, known for his influential voice on social media, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his condemnation and call for immediate police action.
“Stunned and deeply saddened by the reports of a bomb attack during a religious gathering in Kerala. My condemnation is unequivocal, and I urgently call for swift police intervention,” Tharoor posted on his Twitter account. His concern extended beyond the immediate incident, as he articulated, “But mere condemnation is insufficient. Witnessing my home state succumb to a culture of violence and destruction is profoundly distressing.”
Tharoor’s statement further called for unity among religious leaders in condemning acts of violence, sending a powerful message that transcends faith boundaries. He urged them to teach their followers that violence begets only more violence, emphasizing the need for a collective stance against barbaric acts.
As the investigation into the Ernakulam blasts unfolds, Tharoor’s words reflect the sentiments of many who seek peace, harmony, and an end to such tragic incidents that mar the social fabric of Kerala.
