The passing of Tamil actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) chief, Vijayakanth, has left a profound impact, drawing condolences from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thiru Vijayakanth Ji, aged 71, breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai, where he was receiving treatment for pneumonia.
In a heartfelt statement, Prime Minister Modi expressed his extreme sadness over the loss, acknowledging Vijayakanth’s legendary status in the Tamil film world. He praised the actor’s charismatic performances that captivated millions and highlighted his deep commitment to public service as a political leader.
PM Modi reflected on the void left by Vijayakanth’s passing, describing him as a close friend with whom he shared fond interactions over the years. The Prime Minister’s thoughts are with Vijayakanth’s family, fans, and numerous followers during this difficult time.
The DMDK chief, who had previously been admitted to the hospital on November 20 for respiratory illness, was undergoing a regular health check-up on Tuesday. Despite the party’s initial assurance of his good health, Vijayakanth’s condition deteriorated, requiring ventilatory support.
Vijayakanth’s contributions to both the entertainment industry and politics have left an indelible mark on Tamil Nadu. As the nation mourns the loss of this multifaceted personality, his legacy will be remembered for his charismatic on-screen presence and dedicated service to the people.
