I. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat: A Formidable Leader
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s journey in politics began in 1952, and from that point, he left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Rajasthan and India. His distinctive leadership style earned him endearing monikers such as “Rajasthan ka ek hi Singh” and “Babosa.”
II. A Three-Time Chief Minister of Rajasthan
Shekhawat served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times, demonstrating his exceptional popularity and administrative skills. His tenures from 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992, and 1993 to 1998 were marked by significant development and progress in the state.
III. Distinguished Political Career
Shekhawat’s political journey included being an MLA from various constituencies in Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha. He also represented Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. His illustrious career witnessed several remarkable achievements.
IV. The First Vice President of India from the BJP
A significant milestone in Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s political career was his election as the 11th Vice President of India, making him the first to hold this position from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His tenure from 2002 to 2007 contributed to the nation’s political landscape.
