Punjab: The National Center for Seismology (NCS) has reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 that occurred on the 4th of February 2024 at 01:32:24 IST. The seismic activity was centered at Latitude 30.49 and Longitude 72.14, with a depth of 80 km. The epicenter is situated 271 km west of Bathinda, Punjab, India.
This earthquake, though moderate in magnitude, serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of the Earth’s crust. Seismic events are not uncommon in regions near tectonic plate boundaries, and Punjab, despite being away from major fault lines, can experience such occurrences.
