Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Agra and Mathura, two prominent cultural and religious destinations in Uttar Pradesh, are set to take tourism to new heights, quite literally. The completion of preparations for helicopter sightseeing services in these cities marks a significant milestone in the state’s tourism landscape. The heliports, ready for operation under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, are poised to redefine the tourist experience and open up avenues for enhanced connectivity.

In a notable development, an MoU was inked with M/s Rajas Aero Sports and Adventure Private Limited at Paryatan Bhawan on Tuesday, witnessed by Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh. The initiative, scheduled for inauguration on December 25, the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, holds promise for both domestic and foreign tourists, as well as devotees seeking an aerial perspective of these culturally rich cities.

The Tourism and Culture Minister expressed optimism about the project’s potential to increase tourist footfalls, stimulate local activities, and create employment opportunities. The introduction of helicopter services is expected to provide specialized services catering to the diverse needs of tourists, making it a unique and attractive proposition.

“The first phase of the helicopter service will commence with a six-plus-one-seater helicopter, offering three distinct services in Mathura: an aerial tour of the city, an aerial tour covering the entire Mathura region, and a connectivity tour. Notably, this marks the first instance in the country where an aerial circumambulation of a religious place is being introduced”.

In Agra, the Air Safari Agra initiative will cater to foreign tourists, providing connectivity with Delhi Airport and offering ultra-luxury facilities for a seamless travel experience. Additionally, tourists can now embark on a Taj Mahal Air Safari, a novel concept aimed at enhancing the historical and architectural exploration of the iconic monument.

“The initiative is part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader vision to accelerate tourism growth. Currently leading in domestic tourism, the state is making continuous efforts to attract foreign tourists, with Agra holding a significant position as a popular destination. The addition of helicopter sightseeing services is expected to elevate the tourism experience and reinforce Uttar Pradesh’s standing as a premier travel destination in India”.

Present at the MoU signing were Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Director of Tourism Prakhar Mishra, Managing Director of the company Manish Saini, and Special Secretary of Tourism Ashwini Pandey, reflecting the collaborative efforts invested in making this visionary project a reality.
