Chandinagar: The successful completion of training of Air Force Special Forces ‘Garud’ Commandos was marked by a Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade on 14 January 2023 at Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC), Air Force Station Chandinagar. Air Marshal Surat Singh was the reviewing officer for the parade.
The officer congratulated the Guards on the successful completion of their training. Special Forces skills need to constantly be kept up to date with changing security scenarios through rigorous training and honing.
After the successful trainees received their Maroon Berets, Garud Proficiency Badges, and Special Forces Tabs, the meritorious trainees were given trophies. AC Vikram Davar was presented with the best all-rounder trophy.
Guards demonstrated combat firing skills, hostage rescue, firing drills, assault explosives, obstacle crossing drills, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts as part of the ceremony.
An extremely demanding training schedule culminates in the significant event of the Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade. Adding strength to the operational capability of IAF, these newly passed-out trainees enter the elite Garud force.
