Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Boosts Infrastructure with ₹2,367 Crore Highway Projects

Madhya Pradesh: In a significant stride towards the development of Jabalpur, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for nine National Highway projects. These projects, with a combined investment of Rs 2,367 crore and a total length of 225 km, mark a crucial step in enhancing the road connectivity of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of eminent personalities, including Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister of State Faggan Singh Kulaste, Union Minister Virendra Kumar, Madhya Pradesh BJP State President Shri V.D. Sharma, State Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel and Shri Rakesh Singh, along with MPs-MLAs, officers, and other dignitaries.

Among the inaugurated projects is a 1.5 km long bridge over the Jamni River on the Tikamgarh-Jhansi road, constructed at a cost of Rs 43 crore. This bridge will facilitate easier access to Orchha, a prominent tourist destination known for Rajaram’s temple. Additionally, the construction of a 2-lane paved shoulder road from Chandia Ghat to Katni Bypass is expected to bring a qualitative change in connectivity to the coal mines of Katni, thereby benefiting the coal mining industry.

The widening of the Bamitha-Khajuraho road is another noteworthy project aimed at strengthening tourism in Khajuraho. This development is anticipated to have a positive impact on the social and economic conditions of the region.

The foundation stone was also laid for various projects that promise to significantly enhance the infrastructure of the region. This includes the upgradation of the road from Gulganj Bypass to Barna River, the 2-lane road upgradation from Barna River to Ken River, and the upgradation of the road with a 2-lane paved shoulder from Shahdol to Sagartola.

Additionally, the construction of 23 vehicular underpasses (VUPs), bridges, and service roads in the Lakhnadon section, along with the development of three-foot overbridges at Suktra, Kurai, and Khawasa, is set to further improve the connectivity of the surrounding areas.

The improvement work on two black spots at Ghunai and Banjari Valley is also part of the initiative. These comprehensive projects aim not only to save time and fuel but also to contribute to the economic, social, and tourism development of the area.

The inauguration and foundation laying of these National Highway projects represent a significant investment in the progress of Jabalpur. With improved road connectivity, the region is poised for enhanced economic growth, increased tourism, and improved living conditions for its residents. The collaborative efforts of the central and state governments, along with the support of local dignitaries, mark a promising chapter in Jabalpur’s journey towards prosperity.
