The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Himachal Pradesh, indicating the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall from March 29th to 30th, 2024. Residents & authorities are urged to remain vigilant & take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
The forecasted heavy rainfall/snowfall, ranging from 64.5 to 115.5mm, poses potential risks such as landslides, flash floods, and disruption of transportation and communication networks. Therefore, residents must stay informed about weather updates and adhere to advisories issued by local authorities.
The orange alert signifies the need for heightened preparedness and response measures to minimize the impact of adverse weather conditions. Individuals living in vulnerable areas, especially those near rivers, streams, and hilly terrains, are advised to exercise caution and relocate to safer locations if necessary.
