On the 11th of December PM Modi said “Congratulations to Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Ji on taking oath as Himachal Pradesh CM. I assure you all possible cooperation from the Centre to further the development of Himachal Pradesh”.
At a ceremony attended by senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, four-time Congress MLA Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
This marks a generational shift in the state Congress from Virbhadra Singh to Sukhu. Before the oath-taking ceremony, party leaders paid floral tributes to Singh.
The state Cabinet’s maximum number of ministers is 12, including the chief minister. said Hooda “The formation of a Congress government has infused new energy in the party,” He said that when winds of change blow from the hills, they go down to the plains.
The Congress’ choice of Sukhu as the chief minister is being seen as the party giving the top post to a commoner, and also as the shifting of the party’s power Centre from Upper Himachal to Lower Himachal.
At a mega swearing-in ceremony held today at historic ridge ground in Shimla, senior Congress leader Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu took oath as the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He was joined by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri in taking the oath. Both were administered the oath by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
