Transforming Healthcare in Himachal Pradesh: Inauguration of New Facilities at AIIMS Bilaspur

Bilaspur: Today marked a significant milestone in the healthcare landscape of Himachal Pradesh as a range of new facilities were inaugurated at AIIMS Bilaspur. The Chief Guest, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, along with esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare & Chemical and Fertilizers, and Shri Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting & Youth Affairs and Sports, graced the occasion. Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Leader of the Opposition and Former Chief Minister, of Himachal Pradesh, also joined the event.

The unveiling of services such as Radiation Oncology, a 128 Slice CT Scanner, and a Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) plant signifies a new era in patient care, enhancing the healthcare infrastructure not only in Himachal Pradesh but also benefiting neighboring states. Additionally, the foundation stone for a Vishram Sadan (night shelter) was laid, further underlining the commitment to holistic patient welfare.

Addressing the gathering, Shri J P Nadda highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by the Union Government in the health sector, including the expansion of the AIIMS network and the implementation of policies aimed at enhancing medical education and healthcare accessibility. Emphasizing a holistic approach to healthcare, he underscored the significance of preventive measures and the comprehensive coverage provided by Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), ensuring healthcare access for all eligible individuals in Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya lauded the inauguration of 12 new facilities at AIIMS Bilaspur, totaling over Rs 400 crore in investment. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he noted the resilience of India’s healthcare system and the government’s proactive measures in bolstering infrastructure and preparedness. Stressing the importance of decentralizing healthcare services, he affirmed the government’s commitment to establishing medical colleges and AIIMS across the nation, ensuring quality medical care reaches every corner.

The event not only symbolizes a significant leap forward in healthcare infrastructure but also underscores the collaborative efforts of the Union and State governments in prioritizing the well-being of citizens. With a renewed focus on preventive, curative, palliative, and rehabilitative healthcare, AIIMS Bilaspur is poised to emerge as a beacon of excellence in patient care, guided by the ethos of the “AIIMS culture.”
