Alkesh Kumar Sharma Inaugurates The 1st International Conference On Digital Skilling.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma, emphasized the importance of digital skilling, up-skilling, and re-skilling at the 1st International Conference on Communication, Electronics, and Digital Technologies – NICE-DT 2023 and Digital Skilling organized by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).

Shri Sharma stated that digital skilling is critical to maintaining and expanding people’s capabilities and employability in the rapidly changing economy. He highlighted the need for both a future-ready workforce and digital-ready masses (citizens) to advance the digital economy. He praised NIELIT for registering tremendous growth in capacity building and skilling and for training around 8 million candidates in the last decade.

Shri Sharma also emphasized the importance of greater digital connectivity, connecting even the last habitat of the country. He expressed his hope that the high-end training and skilling programs offered by NIELIT will help generate quality manpower in line with the themes of the trillion-dollar digital economy.

The conference is attended by dignitaries including the Chairman of NCVET, Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, the Additional Secretary of MeitY, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Director AI of SHS UNESCO, Dr. M. Squicciarini, and the Director General of NIELIT, Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi. The dignitaries also unveiled the 1st International Journal of Digital Technologies and Abstract Book, which is one of its kind.

The Secretary of MeitY emphasized the critical role of digital skilling, up-skilling, and re-skilling in the rapidly changing economy and praised NIELIT for its efforts in generating quality manpower and promoting digital literacy. The conference served as a platform for discussions on the advancement of digital technologies and the importance of digital skilling for the workforce.
