Veera’s path from a South Indian town to becoming a content creator is a tale of determination. Hailing from Aranthangi, a small town near Thanjavur in Pudukkottai District, Veera, an ardent fan of Rajnikanth, harbored aspirations of achieving success in the film industry since childhood.
After completing his engineering in Pudukkottai, Veera moved to Chennai and secured a 9-5 job at a manufacturing unit. Despite facing numerous challenges, he found contentment in his life, especially after meeting his girlfriend. However, everything changed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Veera lost his job and, to add to his woes, his girlfriend ended their relationship.
Reflecting on his lowest point, Veera shared, “It was a dark period; the woman I loved left, deeming my life mediocre and labeling me a failure. Her words shattered me.” Amidst this turmoil, Veera recalled his childhood admiration for ‘Superstar Rajinikanth,’ reigniting his passion for acting. Serendipitously, he was recommended for an assistant director role in a Tamil film, providing a much-needed distraction from his anguish.
Following in the footsteps of his idol Rajnikanth, Veera embraced the path of the lion (‘sher ka rasta’). Determined to confront societal taboos often ignored in small towns, he challenged conventional norms. Collaborating with three female anchors, he fearlessly broached these taboo subjects. His content gained rapid traction on Josh, pushing the boundaries and amassing over 100K followers within months. Experience the frenzy for his videos below.
With 1 million daily active Tamil youth viewers on Josh, the platform provides a space where creators from smaller towns gain significant traction. Among its 250 million monthly active users, 40% hail from non-metro cities, reflecting its diverse appeal. Following Hindi and English, Tamil emerges as a prominent language. Veera’s follower count has surged to over 250k, accompanied by a lucrative stream of income, with his Josh Wallet receiving up to 10k monthly inflows.
This marked a turning point in Veera’s life. “I relished every moment of it—the long hours, the hustle,” he recalls. “It boosted my self-esteem, and I resolved to avoid another 9-5 job. Acting became my burning desire, but facing countless rejections left me with no income.” Realizing he needed to stand out, Veera turned to social media giants like Josh and Instagram, determined to make an impact.
Veera isn’t alone in monetizing his content on JOSH. Over 1000 creators have discovered an online income stream through Josh Creator Pro. Unlike other platforms that primarily reward creators with millions of followers, this program compensates creators for engaging videos regardless of follower count. Even creators with just a few hundred followers can earn from their very first video. In recent months, over 100 Tamil creators with under 5k followers have profited from Creator Pro.
Veera now approaches content creation with a sense of purpose, aiming to instigate positive societal change. Opting for female content creators to tackle daring topics was a bold move, but one that paid off. Transitioning from a dreamer in a small town to a shining star on Josh, he exemplifies how determination can propel anyone towards their aspirations.
