Anubhuti Kashyap directed the medical campus comedy film, Doctor G. This is her first time directing. Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, and Shefali Shah star in the film. It follows the struggle of a male gynaecologist surrounded by women.
Doctor G was relieved when the film made 5.22 crores on Saturday. It’s good to see that the film’s numbers have increased by more than a crore, something that has been different for other films that have opened in the 2-4 crore range this year.
One expected a better number for the film if it had come up with an overall good weekend. Collections needed to be around 6 crores for the growth to be really steep. If that had happened, one could have said with confidence that Doctor G is en route to be a success story.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G saw an average start at the box office in India opening at similar levels as his Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and better than his Anek.
