1. What is Dhanteras?
Singer, mythologist and author, Vani Subrahmanyam, tells the story of Dhanteras. ” One of the most imperative festivals in the Hindu calendar is the festival of Dhanteras. It falls on the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Kartika, and marks the beginning of the Hindu financial year. The word ‘Dhanteras’ is made from two words, ‘dhan’ meaning wealth and ‘teras’ meaning thirteen. So, Dhanteras celebrates the arrival of wealth and prosperity.”

On the auspicious day of Dhanteras, devotees perform puja with utmost faith and sincerity. This puja is said to be extremely beneficial in bringing prosperity and good luck.
