Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, extends heartfelt greetings to the Tangsa community on the joyous occasion of the Moh-Mol festival. Celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm in the Changlang district, this festival holds deep cultural significance for the Tangsa tribe.
Emphasizing the festival’s importance in showcasing the rich cultural vibrancy and diversity of Arunachal Pradesh, CM Khandu expresses sincere hopes and prayers for peace, happiness, and prosperity in the lives of all citizens.
The Moh-Mol festival, a vibrant agricultural-related spring festival, symbolizes the conclusion of agricultural activities or the onset of the crop season. It is a time marked by a display of rich traditions and customs, highlighting the unique identity of the Tangsa people.
Central to the festival is the extraordinary weaving skills of the Tangsa community, renowned for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Exquisitely crafted textiles take center stage, showcasing the tribe’s artistic flair and cultural heritage.
Dance and music are essential elements of the celebrations, with participants dressed in traditional attire, often crafted by hand and adorned with vibrant hues.
Traditionally spanning between April and July, the exact date for the Moh-Mol festival is decided by the village community. In recent years, April 25th has been designated as the official date, providing a common platform for all to come together and rejoice in their shared heritage.
