Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar visited the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington on March 28, 2024, where he delivered a compelling address to the Future Leadership of the Indian Armed Forces attending the 79 Staff Course. During his speech, Admiral R Hari Kumar shed light on the rich maritime legacy of India and the pivotal role of the country’s geography in shaping its maritime character within the Indian Ocean Region.
Highlighting the transformation of the Indian Navy into a Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future-Proof force, Admiral R Hari Kumar underscored the significance of embracing the principles of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in naval operations and strategy.
In his address, Admiral R Hari Kumar elaborated on recent operations conducted by the Indian Navy, particularly focusing on anti-piracy missions. He emphasized the crucial role played by the Navy in safeguarding India’s trade routes and other maritime interests, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region.
Furthermore, Admiral R Hari Kumar stressed the importance of jointness and integration within the Armed Forces to effectively pursue and achieve national military objectives. He emphasized the need for seamless cooperation and coordination among different branches of the military to confront contemporary security challenges.
Admiral R Hari Kumar’s visit to DSSC and his insightful address not only provided valuable insights into India’s maritime strategy but also inspired future military leaders to uphold the nation’s legacy and contribute to its continued security and prosperity in the maritime domain.
