In a solemn gathering, over 1000 NYPD officers assembled to honor the memory of Officer Jonathan Diller, who tragically lost his life at the hands of career criminal Guy Rivera. Diller’s sacrifice is deeply mourned by his fellow officers and the community.
The heartbreaking incident occurred in Queens, where Diller was shot in the stomach during a routine traffic stop. Despite being wounded, surveillance footage captured Diller’s valiant attempt to seek cover, dragging himself behind a car while screaming in pain.
Diller’s assailant, Rivera, had a disturbing history, having been arrested an alarming 21 times prior to the incident. After the shooting, Rivera was found with a shiv concealed in his rectum, indicating his readiness to face imprisonment once again.
Officer Jonathan Diller leaves behind a devastated family, including a wife and a 1-year-old son, who are now grappling with the profound loss of their loved one. As the NYPD gathers to honor Diller’s memory, the entire community mourns the loss of a dedicated officer who bravely served to protect others.
