G20 India Presidency Hosts International Seminar on CCUS: A Pathway to Clean Energy Transition.

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) recently held an international seminar on Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) under the G20 India Presidency in Bengaluru.

Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R. K. Singh, attended the event and was briefed by NTPC’s Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Gurdeep Singh, about the company’s 10 TPD CO2 to Methanol Plant located at NTPC Vindhyachal in Madhya Pradesh.

The 3D working model of the plant was demonstrated to the minister and other attendees, including Dr. V. K. Saraswat of the NITI Aayog. Shri R. K. Singh and Dr. Saraswat expressed interest in NTPC’s other CCUS initiatives such as CO2 to Gen-4 Ethanol, Urea, and Carbonated Aggregate.

The seminar brought together industries, policymakers, scientists, and academicians from various countries to discuss the importance of CCUS in achieving a clean energy transition and moving towards net zero.

Other senior officials from NTPC, including Shri Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, Director of Projects, Shri Shashant, Chief General Manager of NETRA, and Shri Harjit Singh, Chief General Manager of Carbon Capture, were also present at the event.
