Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered heartfelt condolences on the passing of Squadron Leader Dalip Singh Majithia, the oldest living pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF), whose exemplary career and valor epitomized the highest ideals of service and dedication to the nation.
Squadron Leader Majithia, aged 103, breathed his last at his farm in Uttarakhand on Monday night, marking the end of an era in the annals of the IAF. His remarkable journey, spanning over eight decades, left an indelible mark on the Indian aviation landscape.
The cremation ceremony for Squadron Leader Majithia took place on Tuesday at noon at his farm in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, as per the wishes of his family. Majithia’s daughter, Kiran, shared that the bhog ceremony would be held in New Delhi, with details of the event to be communicated later.
Born on July 27, 1920, in Shimla, Squadron Leader Dalip Singh Majithia answered the call of duty during World War II, joining the Indian Air Force Volunteer Reserve in 1940. Following in the footsteps of his uncle, Surjeet Singh Majithia, Squadron Leader Majithia’s dedication and courage in service to the nation earned him admiration and respect throughout his illustrious career.
As the nation mourns the loss of Squadron Leader Dalip Singh Majithia, Prime Minister Modi’s tribute stands as a testament to his enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to the Indian Air Force. May his soul rest in peace.
