“Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan led the introduction of numerous groundbreaking initiatives in school education at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, on March 9, 2024.” Accompanied by dignitaries from the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) and other esteemed guests, Minister Pradhan emphasized the critical role these initiatives would play in revolutionizing the education landscape of the nation.

Among the initiatives unveiled, the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) stands out as a cornerstone program designed to provide comprehensive support and guidance to teachers across the country. Through a dedicated digital platform, experienced mentors will offer mentoring sessions tailored to address the diverse needs of learners, fostering professional growth and excellence among educators.

Another significant milestone is the introduction of the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST), aligning with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy 2020. NPST aims to elevate the quality of teaching by establishing clear performance expectations and fostering continuous professional development among educators.

The launch of 52 Primers in Indian languages marks a pivotal moment for early childhood education, enabling young learners to access education in their mother tongue or local language. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the transformative potential of these primers in fostering deeper understanding, cultural rootedness, and academic success among students.

Additionally, the inauguration of 200 DTH TV channels under the PMeVidya initiative underscores the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through digital platforms. These channels, along with the National Vidya Samiksha Kendra, will facilitate research, development, and capacity-building programs to enhance the efficacy of educational interventions.

Furthermore, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced substantial financial assistance for the physical upgradation of all District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) to develop them as centers of excellence. This initiative, coupled with the planned upgradation of State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs), underscores the government’s holistic approach towards enhancing the educational infrastructure and pedagogical practices across the nation.

In his address, Minister Pradhan reiterated the government’s commitment to realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in driving socio-economic development and nation-building. The launch of these initiatives reflects a concerted effort to make quality education more inclusive, innovative, and equitable, ultimately empowering learners and educators alike to thrive in the 21st century.
