World Water Day: On the occasion of World Water Day, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, underscores the significance of water conservation in a statement emphasizing its vital role in sustaining life. He stresses the need for proactive measures to preserve and manage water resources effectively.
Nitin Gadkari’s message resonates with the theme of World Water Day, an annual UN observance held on March 22nd, dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of freshwater and advocating for its sustainable management. Each year, the theme focuses on topics relevant to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), aligning with the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 6.
In line with the UN’s efforts, Gadkari’s call to action emphasizes the urgency of addressing water conservation issues and highlights the critical role individuals and communities play in safeguarding this precious resource. His analogy of applying running water to make it walk and stagnant water to quench the ground reflects the importance of utilizing water efficiently and responsibly.
