Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends warm birthday wishes to Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, expressing prayers for his continued well-being and dedicated service to the people of Mizoram.
Pu Lalduhoma, also known as Lalduhawma, is a prominent figure in Indian politics. Born on February 22, 1949, he has had a distinguished career, beginning with his service in the Indian Police Service (IPS). Lalduhoma transitioned to politics, serving as a Member of Parliament from Mizoram in 1984.
As a member of the Indian National Congress, Lalduhoma later founded the Zoram Nationalist Party, a regional political entity in Mizoram. He emerged as a key figure in the Zoram People’s Movement coalition and was elected as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the 2018 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election.
“Throughout his political journey, Lalduhoma has been instrumental in shaping the political landscape of Mizoram. Despite facing challenges, including disqualification under anti-defection laws, Lalduhoma’s commitment to public service has remained unwavering”.
In the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election, Lalduhoma’s Zoram People’s Movement secured a landslide victory, defeating the ruling party. This triumph underscored his popularity and the trust placed in his leadership by the people of Mizoram.
As Lalduhoma celebrates another year of life, Prime Minister Modi’s heartfelt wishes reflect the nation’s appreciation for his contributions to Mizoram’s progress and development. May Pu Lalduhoma’s dedication to public service continue to inspire and uplift the people of Mizoram.
