India, since its independence in 1947, has been on a path of growth and development. And in recent years, the country has witnessed a tremendous boost in its aviation sector. The Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been pushing hard to improve the country’s aviation infrastructure. And as a result, since independence in 2014, 74 airports were built in India.
Prime Minister Modi has always been a strong advocate of improving India’s aviation infrastructure. He believes that the growth of the aviation sector can help boost the country’s economy and create new job opportunities for the youth.
When Prime Minister Modi took over as the Prime Minister of India in 2014, he set an ambitious target of building 100 new airports across the country. And under his leadership, the government has been able to achieve a significant milestone by building 74 new airports in just 9 years. This has not only improved connectivity across the country but has also boosted the country’s tourism sector.
The government’s focus on improving the aviation infrastructure has not just been limited to building new airports. The government has also been working on modernizing the existing airports across the country. This includes the expansion of the existing airports, improving the facilities, and upgrading the technology used in the airports.
The government’s efforts have paid off, and India’s aviation sector has seen significant growth in recent years. According to a report by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the total number of domestic air passengers in India increased by 19.2% in 2019, compared to the previous year. This is a clear indication of the government’s success in improving the country’s aviation infrastructure.
Despite the significant progress, India’s aviation sector still faces many challenges. These include high operating costs, a shortage of skilled manpower, and inadequate infrastructure in certain regions of the country. But with the government’s continued focus and investment in the sector, these challenges can be overcome.
The building of 74 new airports in India since independence in 2014 is a significant achievement for the country. It is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to improving the country’s aviation infrastructure and boosting the economy. And with the continued focus on the sector, the aviation industry in India is poised for significant growth in the years to come.
