The political landscape in Odisha is heating up as the Congress party makes significant strides in its election preparations. With the announcement of candidates for two Lok Sabha seats and eight assembly seats, the party is gearing up for a robust electoral campaign ahead of the scheduled polls.

In the latest list released by the Congress, Nagendra Pradhan and Suresh Mohapatra have been nominated to contest from Sambalpur and Cuttack Lok Sabha seats, respectively, reflecting the party’s strategic selection process to secure key constituencies.

Moreover, the party also unveiled candidates for eight assembly seats, namely Baripada, Jaleswar, Balasore, Barachana, Pallahara, Barabati-Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Khandapada. This move underscores the Congress’s concerted efforts to strengthen its presence across various regions of Odisha.

The announcement comes on the heels of the party’s earlier declarations, wherein it unveiled candidates for 75 assembly seats on April 14 and released its initial list comprising 49 candidates on April 2. These calculated steps demonstrate the Congress’s meticulous approach toward assembling a formidable lineup for the upcoming Odisha Assembly Elections 2024.

As the election dates draw near, Odisha braces itself for a politically charged atmosphere. The state Assembly elections are scheduled to be conducted in four phases, commencing from May 13, with subsequent phases on May 20, May 25, and June 1. Simultaneously, the state will cast its votes for the 21 Lok Sabha seats, with the polling set to commence on May 13.

For each phase of the assembly elections, specific nomination and withdrawal dates have been outlined. In the first phase, nominations can be filed until April 25, with the deadline for withdrawal set for April 29. Subsequent phases follow similar timelines, emphasizing the structured approach adopted by election authorities to ensure a smooth electoral process.

With the stage set for a keenly contested electoral battle, the Congress’s candidate announcements signal the beginning of a rigorous campaign aimed at capturing the electorate’s trust and support. As the countdown to the polls begins, all eyes are on Odisha, where the political landscape is poised for a dynamic transformation.
