Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah announces the successful acquisition of ₹3,498.82 crore in drought relief from the Union Government, following persistent efforts and an appeal to the Supreme Court.

Expressing gratitude, CM Siddaramaiah thanks the Honorable Supreme Court for its intervention, highlighting the unprecedented nature of the state’s recourse to the apex court to enforce its rights.

“It’s regrettable that we had to wait since Sept 2023 for a response. HMO India finally woke up after the Honorable Supreme Court rang the bell,” remarked CM Siddaramaiah, acknowledging the delay in securing relief.

While Siddaramaiah celebrates the justice done to Karnataka’s farmers, he voices concern over the inadequacy of the sanctioned amount. “Finally, some justice has been done to our farmers. However, the sanction is woefully inadequate. We had asked for Rs 18,000 crores and we have got 3498.98 crores!” he stated.

The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s remarks underscore the significance of the relief for Karnataka’s agricultural sector while highlighting the disparity between the sanctioned amount and the state’s requested allocation. Despite the challenges, the acquisition of drought relief marks a significant step forward in addressing the needs of the state’s farmers.
